  • Why do all string trimmers have a plastic guard?

Over time as brands have designed garden power tools, they’ve kept customer safety at the forefront of their minds. The plastic or metal guard at the base of the strimmer stem contains the spinning string. It also stops the string from catching your shoes or feet. This is an important safety feature; do not try to remove it from your strimmer. Many guards are designed with a wide-open side to allow good cutting from the string.

Is dual-line feed better than a single line?

The design of your strimmer may differ in the way that the string is fed from the rotating cuff. It is usually a dual-line feed, meaning there are two pieces of string coming out of the cuff. This is the best design as the string has two cuts for every rotation, and so can do double the work in the same amount of time. Even for small projects in your yard, dual-line feed is the most popular design.

Are petrol or electric string trimmers best?

Snapper offers both petrol-powered and electric string trimmers, but which is best? Well, it depends on your personal preference and the size of the job you’re working on. Petrol models tend to have more power, but can be heavy to handle and can produce gas emissions.
Electric models still have a good amount of power; some are corded, which is useful for close to home jobs. Look for a cordless trimmer with a rechargeable battery if you’re working away from a power source or remotely.
