Brush Cutters

Brush Cutters

With summer slowly approaching, now would be the best time to cut the long grass and weeds that have been dominating your home’s compound. A brush cutter is your best weapon against the dense scrub that has made a home in your compound for the past few months.

Also known as a grass trimmer, a brush cutter is durable. It boasts different blade attachments, allowing you to seamlessly cut through a variety of vegetation, including overgrown bushes and undergrowth in rocky areas. It’s the best garden tool you can own, especially if you have a lot of outdoor space to cover.

  • What is the Difference between a Brush Cutter and Strimmer?

It’s easy to confuse a brush cutter with a strimmer, but note, they’re two different garden tools. A strimmer usually uses a nylon line, which rotates at an incredibly fast pace to trim grass. A brush cutter uses the same technique but with metal blades instead.

Also, unlike a strimmer, a brush cutter can seamlessly cut through other vegetation besides grass. It’s especially effective in cutting grass and dense scrubs on rocky areas or hard to reach areas, such as under trees where a regular mower or strimmer cannot.

How Exactly Does a Brush Cutter Work?

As noted, a brush cutter works the same as a trimmer, but instead of using a nylon string, it has metal blades that can easily take down tree trunks that are 4 inches thick.

What Can You Use a Brush Cutter for?

A brush cutter, as noted, is one of the most powerful garden tools in the market today. That said, it can easily take down tree trunks that are 4 inches thick. But other than that, you can use it to trim weeds, overgrown bushes, or small trees. You can also use it to clear undergrowth in areas not easily accessible by an ordinary mower or trimmer, such as on slopes, river banks, under trees, or rocky areas.

How Do You Clean Your Brush Cutter?

As with any other tool in your arsenal, a brush cutter requires maintenance. The most basic form of maintenance, in this case, is cleaning. With that said, for this task, you will need a clean damp sponge and a brush with soft bristles. Use the sponge to wipe the dirt on your cutter’s casing, and then the brush to get rid of the dirt blocking the ventilation holes.

How Much Horsepower Does it Take to Cut a Bush Hog Using a Brush Cutter?

Well, it all depends on the size of the hog in question. Usually, a brush cutter will use 5HP for each foot. Therefore, if you’re trying to take down a 5-foot hog, then the cutter requires 25HP.
